The Sports Agent Hall of Fame
Ray Anderson
Inducted, 2020
Ray Anderson, through his commitment to excellence and class, has cemented himself as a trailblazer within the industry at a unique depth. The former Stanford letterman turned Harvard law graduate set to impact the sport from the start of his career. Anderson led a group of founding fathers, agents who normalized an “innovative” new approach to athlete management. Anderson represented multiple players, and coaches, during his time as an agent, including Brian Billick, Tony Dungy, Marvin Lewis, Herm Edwards and Dennis Green. Anderson's calm aura and visionary mindset drove him to push boundaries at the intersection of sports, business, and law. Anderson served at many different depths in pursuit of his vision. He departed the agency field to serve in administration, as vice president to Atlanta Falcons, showcasing his leadership and strategy, then departing to become the National Football League’s senior director of football operations, rising to vice president of football operations before Anderson once again left in the spirit of innovation. Anderson found an outlet for his innovative tendencies as athletic director at Arizona State University. During his tenure, he leveraged his agency background in securing landmark deals and partnerships and overseeing major renovations to Sun Devil Stadium, and the erection of Mullett Arena, home to one of four new Division 1 sports in Tempe under his tenure.
